Monemvasia

Monemvasia or Malvouazi for the Franks and Malmzy for the English is a medieval village with a magical and romantic atmosphere. Here you will find monuments and churches as well as an important archaeological collection which is housed in the Old Mosque in the Square of Elkomenos Christos.

Just before the bridge you can see the new town of Monemvasia while if you head south you will meet meet the coastal settlements of Nomia. Around Monemvasia there are many beautiful beaches, but the hinterland also hides mesmerizing places such as the Watermill of Talanta and the Folklore Museum of Velies.

The religious monuments of the area are located outside the castle walls. The most important ones are the Twin Temples of Teria and the Church of St. Nicholas.
