The Prefecture of Laconia occupies the southeastern part of the Peloponnese. It has two major mountain ranges: Taygetos (highest peak in the Peloponnese - 2.407 m.) and Parnon (1.961 m.). Between them there is the Valley of Eurotas River and the capital of the prefecture, Sparta.
